About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the definition, development, and implementation of a uniform Labor Management Program across all APLL CLS sites in the Americas region
  • Develop and maintain corporate CLS labor management guidelines and labor savings targets
  • Lead process design and re-engineering initiatives for new and existing CLS operations
  • Define and set labor standards for the APLL CLS network
  • Develop and maintain redeployable templates for job functions across the network
  • Plan, lead, and manage deployment of Labor Management System solutions for all CLS sites
  • Counsel the CLS senior management team through network and site analysis of labor productivity trends
  • Develop communication protocols with Directors, General Managers, and Operators to review concerns and provide recommendations
  • Champion process improvement initiatives based on LMS reports, operational trends, and site engineering observations
  • Coordinate changes to site job functions, activities, and labor standards to ensure adherence to program guidelines
  • Manage special projects involving analysts, industrial engineers, software vendors, and other outside contractors
  • Share responsibility with the IT product manager for the LMS solution and manage upgrades, improvements, and enhancements
  • Serve as the expert on work methods, engineered standards, best practices, performance coaching, and labor management systems
  • Develop and maintain training programs for management teams and ensure operations teams use tools to achieve productivity goals and labor savings
  • Partner with HR and Legal to ensure Labor Management Systems conform to applicable local laws
  • Develop internship projects and support hiring and retention of engineering talent
  • Conduct research on market trends, reporting tools, LMS functionalities, and incentive pay programs
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Preferred minimum 5 years of work experience in 3PL warehousing, distribution centre or fulfilment experience
  • Proven knowledge and experience conducting work measurements in DC operations
  • Lean training
  • Six Sigma training – Green Belt certification preferred
  • Experience setting up and deploying labor management programs and LMS applications in multiple sites
  • Experience managing integrations of LMS systems with time and payroll platforms
  • In depth knowledge of labor planning and labor management (LMS) techniques in an operational environment
  • Experience driving productivity initiatives using Labor Management software
  • Knowledge of MOST or MTM standards
  • Experience setting up and deploying incentive pay programs
  • Experience developing and maintaining network performance dashboards using business-intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau; experience with SQL, Python, or similar analytics tools is preferred
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to explain detailed productivity and labor standard data to operational staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly, quickly, and efficiently to leadership, operations staff, and engineers
  • Ability to coach and motivate senior management, line managers, and supervisors
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, project-based environment and collaborate on business recommendations to drive cost savings
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Ability to create reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and customer-facing presentation documents
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Multiple site support responsibilities
  • Travel required 50%
  • Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office
  • Employees within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office (AZ, FL, MI, NC, OR) are required to follow a designated hybrid schedule
