About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership, direction, and strategy development
- Make final administrative or operational decisions within authority
- Ensure group activities model safe behavior and follow protocols, procedures, and core values
- Lead cross-functional teams supporting supplier engineering objectives
- Ensure sourcing decisions align with overall strategy
- Set and drive goals for cost savings, value creation, and vendor performance
- Maintain relationships with key internal customers and support organizations
- Develop cost reduction, cost avoidance, and supply base improvement initiatives
- Analyze industry, supplier dynamics, and market trends to determine leverage
- Evaluate, qualify, and select suppliers
- Execute the annual operating plan framework
- Monitor vendor performance across assigned commodity and service areas
- Participate in scorecard development and quarterly business reviews for high-impact vendors
- Participate in resolving and escalating vendor performance issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering degree
- 15 years of experience
- Semiconductor industry experience ideally
- Broad and comprehensive understanding of systems, theories, practices, and changing business environments
- In-depth knowledge of the relevant segment/function, business, and commercial expertise
- Experience leading business units, departments, or sub-functions through multiple management levels
- Ability to develop and execute business unit, department, or sub-functional strategy
- Ability to evaluate business challenges and direct innovative solutions
- Ability to influence and negotiate at top executive levels
- Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct
- Compliance with company standards and highest ethical conduct
- Willingness to travel 25% of the time
