About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain scalable, high-quality Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Own the native Android layer in Flutter apps, including architecture, integrations and platform-specific capabilities
  • Build and ship Android-native features including home screen widgets, Live Updates, rich notifications, FCM push notifications, Credential Manager, Sign in with Google, Google Play Billing and Material 3 experiences
  • Bring AI capabilities to the native side using ML Kit, LiteRT, Gemini Nano through AICore, and Android speech and camera APIs
  • Design and evolve maintainable Android architectures, reusable components and boundaries between native and Flutter layers
  • Debug and resolve Android production issues including crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, performance regressions, networking problems and Flutter engine behavior
  • Profile and optimize startup time, memory usage, rendering performance, battery usage and responsiveness
  • Ensure reliability across Android OEMs, OS versions, screen sizes, tablets and foldables
  • Improve testing, code review, CI/CD, release processes and mobile observability
  • Mentor the Android team through code reviews, internal guidelines and knowledge-sharing sessions
  • Monitor Android platform updates and Google Play requirements and turn them into technical and product proposals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of professional Android development experience, including apps shipped and maintained in production on Google Play
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and hands-on production experience with Jetpack Compose
  • Strong knowledge of Android application architecture, application and process lifecycle, modular design and platform APIs
  • Strong knowledge of Android platform capabilities including app widgets, services, WorkManager, push notifications, Google Play Billing, permissions and background execution
  • Solid understanding of Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, structured concurrency and thread safety
  • Strong understanding of Android memory management, lifecycle-related leaks and performance profiling
  • Experience using Android Studio Profiler, Perfetto and production diagnostics
  • Hands-on experience with Gradle configuration, dependency management, app signing, CI/CD and the full Google Play release process
  • Experience connecting native Android code with a cross-platform framework, or strong willingness to learn Flutter
  • Working proficiency in English
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiarity with iOS and Swift is a plus
  • Experience with Java or legacy Android codebases is a plus
  • Experience with Wear OS, Android TV or other Android form factors is a plus
  • Experience with Firebase, crash reporting, analytics, Play Integrity or mobile observability tools is a plus
