Key responsibilities & impact

Decompose ambiguous problems into smaller components and map dependencies and operational risk before production
Determine the appropriate tools, including harnesses, models, custom tools and MCP servers
Code underlying plumbing and automations while embedding solutions in pre-existing architectures
Build observability channels to monitor system health and enable user-accessible fixes
Bound builds with schemas, evaluation sets and permissions for human review
Create transparent, trustworthy AI-assisted delivery systems
Explain architecture decisions, trade-offs and risks in terms actionable for non-technical stakeholders
Work directly with clients to scope problems, build solutions and improve clients’ internal capabilities
Collaborate with the founders, fractional CTO and clients
Walk through and defend a selected project during the technical interview

Requirements

What you’ll need

Demonstrable competence building stress-tested cloud systems that have reached production and had measurable impact (3+ years)
Experience shipping AI harnesses involving RAG, document intelligence and custom tools
Experience with evaluation pipelines, model routing, agent/tool orchestration and permissions
Proficiency with Python, including FastAPI
Proficiency with LangChain and, where necessary, LangGraph
Proficiency with SQL and scalable vector databases
Ability to enforce rigorous evaluation covering edge cases and determine mitigations for prompt injection and tool abuse
Ability to distinguish model safety issues from application security issues
Ability to explain architecture decisions, trade-offs and risks to non-technical stakeholders
Contract-based availability and willingness to work on custom-spec client projects
Willingness to be on-site with clients when required
