About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct compliance reviews, monitoring, and testing across april's regulatory obligations
- Review and investigate potential compliance issues, document findings, and escalate where appropriate
- Identify control gaps and assist with remediation and follow-up
- Assist with regulatory reporting, audits, and compliance assessments
- Monitor regulatory developments relevant to tax software, data privacy, and financial services
- Summarize relevant regulatory developments and propose and help implement updates to internal policies and procedures
- Run point on customer due diligence requests, including third-party risk management questionnaires, compliance and privacy due diligence questionnaires, audit requests, and ongoing monitoring asks from customers
- Work with the Security team to provide consistent answers across security, privacy, and regulatory questionnaires and maintain the Legal/compliance answer bank
- Own the vendor compliance intake process, including risk-tiering new vendors, collecting and reviewing security and privacy documentation, and routing matters for Legal or Security review
- Keep compliance policies current, track review dates, manage version control, and drive the annual review and approval cycle
- Coordinate compliance training, track completion, and help write content
- Support the AI governance program, including AI use-case inventory, vendor and model documentation, and review workflows
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–4 years of experience in compliance, risk, privacy, or a closely related function
- Working familiarity with at least one of: U.S. financial privacy law, data privacy frameworks, third-party risk management, or regulatory compliance in financial services or tax
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Strong organizational habits; ability to keep trackers accurate and meet deadlines independently
- Comfortable working independently and handling sensitive information
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must complete employment eligibility verification upon hire
- Nice to have: experience at a fintech, bank, tax software company, or in a role supporting those clients
- Nice to have: exposure to IRC, IRS e-file provider rules, or tax-industry data protection requirements
- Nice to have: experience responding to bank or financial-institution due diligence questionnaires or working inside a compliance management tool
- Nice to have: privacy or compliance certification, or active progress toward one
- Candidates must answer whether they will require current or future employment visa sponsorship
