About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver transformative consulting services to nonprofit clients across a broad range of finance and accounting functions
- Participate in financial assessments and process improvement engagements led by senior staff
- Support system implementations and chart of accounts analysis and redesign
- Perform financial and data analysis, including development and execution of complex reconciliations
- Develop, execute, and/or oversee the month-end close process
- Prepare periodic financial reporting for client senior management and/or Boards of Directors
- Support and perform analysis related to annual budget and projection processes
- Evaluate and document financial policies and procedures
- Assist clients in preparing for annual financial statement audits and IRS Form 990 data collection
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities across finance department functions
- Oversee and/or process components of payroll, accounts payable, and/or cash receipts
- Support the development and implementation of Uniform Guidance policies and assist with indirect cost rate analysis
- Work collaboratively with Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers
- Work on complex engagements including interim CFO/Controller support, Single Audit facilitation, and system implementations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
- 3+ years of accounting experience, including demonstrated experience with GAAP for nonprofit organizations
- CPA preferred
- Uniform Guidance and Single Audit experience a plus
- Ability to work autonomously on client assignments and field initial client questions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to professionals at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously with a focus on detail and accuracy
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of and interest in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, CRM, and ERP systems and related integrations
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of nonprofit financial reporting
- Knowledge of grant fund accounting
- Knowledge of ASB ASC 958
- Knowledge of donor and grant revenue recognition
