About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and manage complex federal, state, and local tax compliance engagements for corporations, partnerships, S corporations, individuals, trusts, and/or other entities
  • Review complex tax returns, workpapers, estimates, extensions, and related filings for technical accuracy, quality, and timely completion
  • Research and interpret complex tax laws, regulations, rulings, and guidance
  • Prepare technical memoranda and communicate findings to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services
  • Serve as a primary client contact for assigned engagements
  • Manage engagement budgets, timelines, staffing, billing, realization, and profitability
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and review tax associates, seniors, and managers
  • Collaborate with partners and leadership on client strategy, technical matters, service opportunities, and practice growth
  • Support tax notice responses, examinations, and controversy matters
  • Maintain current knowledge of tax law changes and industry trends
  • Lead and grow a dynamic tax practice serving a diverse, multi-industry client base
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of tax professionals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
  • CPA license required; JD, LLM in Taxation, or Enrolled Agent credential may be considered depending on role scope
  • Typically 7+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably within a public accounting or professional services environment
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing complex tax returns and managing multiple client engagements
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax compliance, tax planning, and applicable tax regulations
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and developing tax professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and team members
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and high-quality standards
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English required
