About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop communication plans and calendars for informatics initiatives tailored to clinical, operational, and partner audiences
- Write, edit, and produce newsletters, fact sheets, web and SharePoint content, briefings, infographics, and other information products
- Manage content for the Health Informatics Community of Practice and related channels serving VA medical centers
- Develop outreach and education materials promoting health information exchange with Veterans, community providers, and industry partners
- Develop deployment messaging and adoption materials supporting Federal EHR site transitions, VistA/CPRS changes, and effective EHR use
- Develop communications supporting informatics workforce, training, and engagement programs
- Draft press materials, talking points, and responses to information requests for Government review and release
- Draft and schedule content for internal and approved social media channels and track engagement
- Ensure products meet Section 508 accessibility, plain-language, and VA branding standards
- Track communications reach and engagement and recommend improvements
- Participate in PI Planning, iteration ceremonies, and system demos, aligning communications timelines with Feature delivery
- Support the VA VHA Office of Clinical Informatics on the Operational Informatics Pipeline contract
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field
- Experience writing, editing, and producing information products, such as newsletters, web content, press materials, or briefings
- Experience managing communication channels, including internal communications or social media
- Experience writing for varied audiences, including senior leaders and technical or clinical staff
- Ability to obtain and maintain a VA background investigation at the level assigned to the position
- Must reside and work in the United States with U.S. work authorization
- Desired: Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- Desired: Experience with communications for VA, VHA, or another federal health care organization
- Desired: Experience communicating health IT or EHR changes to clinicians
- Desired: Experience with SharePoint, Teams, and design tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Desired: Experience applying Section 508 accessibility and plain-language standards
- Desired: Experience supporting change management communications; Prosci certification
- Desired: Experience on SAFe or Scrum teams
