About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define, understand and articulate data across Assessment Technology
- Create and shape data architecture artefacts, including data models, data dictionaries and data flow diagrams
- Translate business capabilities into practical data requirements
- Support data strategy and governance through standards, policies and procedures
- Engage with operational, product, technical and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
- Model, describe and visualise data across the assessment technology estate
- Work with Solution Architects and Product Managers to produce a data roadmap
- Assess the landscape for data management and transformation improvements
- Provide documentation supporting architectural designs
- Work with Solution Architects and development teams to deliver approved domain data models
- Ensure data security and retention compliance
- Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and Security teams on regulatory requirements
- Develop business process models and flows explaining data creation, distribution and transformation
- Provide governance around data integrity
- Mentor and coach team members
- Manage risks associated with production changes
- Provide product support when needed
- Influence innovation and change across the AQA group
Requirements
What you’ll need- Computing degree or equivalent level of business computing experience and/or Professional accreditation (BCS etc.)
- Experience producing and using architecture artefacts such as data models, data dictionaries, data flows or similar documentation
- Experience in managing and understanding domain level data models
- Proven experience of understanding and transforming discrete service domain data models into a cohesive multi-service model
- Experience of managing data across products and microservice based architectures
- Strong knowledge of domain-driven design and its impact on data and consistency
- Awareness of data governance frameworks, standards, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of different data storage technologies and appropriate use cases
- Ability to translate complex technical information into business-focused language
- Ability to produce and maintain effective documentation
- Architectural leadership and ability to drive solution implementations through delivery
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of complex issues
- Ability to manage own time and work under pressure
- Curiosity and willingness to research and learn emerging technologies and methodologies
