About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee multidisciplinary design coordination and provide technical leadership to project teams across freight rail, transload, terminal, and industrial infrastructure programs
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align strategic objectives, capital investment priorities, permitting requirements, and project progress
- Act as the primary client point of contact for project execution
- Plan and lead formal and informal touchpoints with customers, municipalities, regulators, contractors, and engineering partners
- Lead client meetings, respond to enquiries, and collaborate across the project lifecycle from feasibility and site selection through commissioning and asset management
- Spearhead strategic pursuits, create winning delivery strategies and fee projections, and develop advantageous delivery approaches
- Manage financial and project management controls across concurrent capital and operating programs
- Manage acquisition, deployment, and optimization of multidisciplinary project resources, consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and professional services partners
- Drive timely technical and commercial service delivery and undertake reviews to exceed client expectations
- Implement design delivery best practices, including risk and change management, project setup, planning, procurement strategy, and project governance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university
- 10 or more years’ relevant experience, with 25+ years preferred, including leadership of the development and implementation of intermodal, transload, freight logistics, and industrial facility projects
- Previous experience with Class I Railroad projects and Freight Rail Facilities, including freight terminal development, railcar fleet engineering, track maintenance, FRA inspection programs, switching operations, and rail yard safety technologies
- Experience managing multimillion-dollar capital and operating budgets, multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, procurement activities, and multiple concurrent capital projects
- Knowledge of AREMA Manual and relevant agency and industry standards
- PE License preferred
- Experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenRail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling programs/software preferred
- Experience supporting industrial, chemical, energy, environmental, and hazardous materials transportation markets through rail infrastructure planning, engineering, permitting, construction, and lifecycle asset management preferred
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays
