About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist Project Managers and Task Managers with planning and executing geotechnical and hydrology instrumentation installation oversight and troubleshooting
  • Support environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks
  • Assist with geochemistry laboratory and R&D experiments
  • Conduct site inspections, drilling and well-installation oversight, and soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling
  • Operate and maintain remediation systems
  • Oversee subcontractors and assist with on-site laboratory geochemistry studies
  • Perform task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health and safety plan preparation, and work plan development
  • Develop laboratory bench-test evaluations and pilot-test designs
  • Write technical reports and proposals; review regulatory files
  • Support project strategy, schedule and budget management, and subcontract establishment
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines, hydrologists, and geologists
  • Support National emergency response teams under trained incident responders’ direction, including possible work outside standard business hours
  • Perform field and office work, with up to 75% travel and fieldwork during the first two years

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental, biological, physical science)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent thinking
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting and independently/remotely
  • Adaptable, creative problem-solving and collaborative abilities
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork with a focus on health and safety
  • Ability to travel within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time
  • Preferred: Master of Science degree in Geology, Engineering, or closely related field
  • Preferred: Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Preferred: Current MSHA 40-hour surface and underground training
