About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead diverse teams of scientists, engineers, and planners on environmental permitting projects
- Execute permitting projects for rail, renewable energy, oil and gas, and linear utilities
- Develop permitting strategies and coordinate with clients to achieve successful project outcomes
- Provide senior-level quality assurance and quality control for client deliverables
- Manage agency consultations and permit applications
- Coordinate stormwater and erosion control planning, cultural resources, floodplain assessments, and civil engineering services
- Serve as client point of contact
- Manage technical, commercial, and financial project performance
- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, change, and contracts
- Support or manage growth of new and existing client relationships
- Support client account teams and lead pursuits and proposal development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, civil engineering, biology, ecology, geology, or similar environmental discipline
- Minimum of seven years of total experience
- Five years of experience managing environmental permitting projects, technical teams, schedules/budgets, and delivery of high-quality work products
- Demonstrated experience coordinating with Midwest federal, state, and local natural resource permitting agencies
- Ability to lead project delivery, ensure client satisfaction, manage projects effectively, and support communication and collaboration between multidisciplinary teams
- Experience with state and federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act
- Experience in environmental consulting, or equivalent experience with environmental agencies and departmental roles with commercial entities
- Master’s degree in environmental science, urban planning, biology, ecology, geology, water resources, or similar discipline preferred
- Experience supporting or managing client development, relationships, opportunities, and proposal development preferred
- Familiarity with wetland delineations, habitat reviews, construction oversight, stormwater compliance, and similar field-related project components preferred
