About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform HVAC design and construction services for commercial, municipal, and industrial water/wastewater facilities
- Develop design projects from inception to completion
- Prepare complete construction packages for mechanical systems
- Lead projects and mentor junior staff
- Lead junior engineers and designers/drafters across multiple projects
- Serve as Project and/or Task Manager for planning, design, and construction of mechanical systems
- Coordinate and execute project deliverables with other disciplines and/or the Senior Project Manager
- Manage clients, build client relationships, prepare proposals and presentations, participate in client interviews, and manage client expectations
- Prepare budgets and delivery schedules
- Prepare equipment procurement packages
- Create and manage cost estimates
- Approve project drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Perform heating and cooling load analysis
- Support construction, commissioning, and start-up projects as needed
- Maintain Arcadis mechanical engineering standards and specifications
- Lay out equipment rooms and distribution systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7 years’ experience in HVAC detailed design
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field of study
- Professional Engineer license
- HVAC load calculation software experience, such as Carrier HAP or Trane Trace
- Functional experience with Microsoft Office applications and Bluebeam
- Preferred: 7+ years’ specialized HVAC design and construction experience for commercial, municipal, and/or industrial water/wastewater facilities
- Preferred: Plumbing and fire protection design knowledge
- Preferred: ASHRAE association or similar
- Preferred: 3D CAD software experience and LEED GA or other related knowledge
- Ability to communicate design strategies to a drafting department
- Broad understanding of HVAC, hot water heating, airside, chilled water, and condenser water systems
- Familiarity with state and local codes, code review processes, and responding to code official comments
- Site visit experience and problem-solving abilities
