About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform field work for asbestos and lead-related projects, including inspections, abatement monitoring/oversight, air sampling, and onsite analysis
  • Conduct indoor air quality (IAQ) and mold investigations
  • Perform building characterization assessments
  • Write project reports
  • Interact and communicate with project managers, leaders, abatement contractors, consultants, and client personnel
  • Manage and self-perform inspections and surveys
  • Monitor abatement for asbestos, lead, mold, IAQ, and other regulated building materials across commercial, public school, financial, retail, industrial, chemical, manufacturing, oil/gas, and electrical facilities
  • Provide detailed written or electronic project field notes and sampling summaries
  • Travel daily to project locations in greater Southern California
  • Travel longer distances with potential overnight stays as required
  • Work occasional nights, weekends, or extended hours beyond 8 hours depending on project needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Valid state of California Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) asbestos credential or Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) credential
  • Valid state of California Lead Sampling Technician credential required in the role description
  • Experience in a consulting environment with lead-paint, hazardous building materials management, indoor air quality, mold evaluations, and ventilation system assessments
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment during a work shift
  • Ability to climb and descend a ladder
  • Ability to clear a background check
  • Ability to pass a medical exam and be medically cleared to wear a negative pressure respirator
  • Ability to work independently and on teams with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to implement corrective processes
  • Ability to learn new digital technologies for field services
  • Ability to take ownership, prioritize schedules, produce timely high-quality documentation, and respond to phone and email requests
  • AS or BS in physical sciences, industrial hygiene, safety, environmental sciences, or related science or engineering fields preferred, not required
  • General understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, and building construction preferred
  • General understanding of building renovation and demolition preferred
  • CDPH Lead Inspector, Assessor, or Project Monitor preferred
  • NIOSH 582 certification or equivalent certification preferred
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER preferred
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
