About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and coordinate electrical systems for municipal water/wastewater projects
  • Provide technical and design consulting focused on medium- and low-voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding
  • Lead, guide, and mentor electrical staff through line management and quality-control reviews
  • Manage project and task budgets and delivery schedules
  • Balance team workload across multiple assignments
  • Support business development and prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets for new projects
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including Control Systems and Process Mechanical groups
  • Establish design criteria and perform design calculations
  • Develop one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans, and specifications as Engineer of Record
  • Conduct field inspections and condition assessments
  • Oversee construction projects and identify design deviations and completion issues
  • Perform power-systems analysis using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar software, including arc-flash hazard studies
  • Collaborate with practice leadership and participate in regional and national conferences
  • Support technical knowledge advancement and sharing
  • Travel up to 25% for project site visits, client meetings, equipment audits, and construction oversight

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 12 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), NFPA 820, and NFPA 70E
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary design team
  • Ability and desire to mentor and manage junior/staff engineers on multiple concurrent projects
  • Up to 25% travel for project site visits, client meetings, equipment audits, and construction oversight
  • Preferred: 15 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred: Ability to obtain reciprocity for a PE license in other states and Puerto Rico
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, field instrumentation, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) as related to electrical design
  • Preferred: Experience using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or other power systems analysis software
  • Preferred: NFPA 70E training
