About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as the process engineer on industrial water and wastewater projects
- Apply physical/chemical primary treatment, biological treatment, membrane treatment, adsorption, filtration, disinfection, thermal evaporation, and crystallization processes and technologies
- Delegate engineering or scientific calculations and drawings to junior staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to implement complex treatment solutions
- Support projects from study phase through design, construction, startup, commissioning, and operation and maintenance
- Develop and prepare process design drawings, specifications, calculations, plans, and other technical deliverables
- Conduct field work, including surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, and bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing
- Assist with system commissioning and startup, including training plant staff
- Prepare and deliver client and professional-meeting presentations
- Manage projects as necessary to meet client and Arcadis expectations
- Support business development through proposal preparation and client meetings
- Travel as needed for meetings and site visits, up to 25%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
- 7+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in the industrial water/wastewater field
- Understanding of industrial wastewater treatment systems
- Experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing construction documents
- Experience preparing mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical reports, and O&M manuals
- Proficiency in engineering calculations using tools such as Excel and Mathcad
- Experience developing equipment and piping specifications
- Experience coordinating within multidisciplinary project teams
- Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers
- Professional Engineer registration in one or more states (preferred)
- Master’s degree in engineering or related field focused on wastewater treatment process engineering (preferred)
