About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, coach, and develop team members to enhance cost management service delivery in the rail sector
- Create project costings and budgets for rail projects
- Manage finances to achieve profit and budgetary targets
- Lead and manage cost management assignments to meet client expectations
- Understand and address client objectives within rail-sector cost management
- Monitor team performance and ensure compliance with cost-control policies
- Assure compliance with project delivery and cost-management contracts
- Analyse complex cost data and provide recommendations for project decisions
- Support development of cost and commercial management systems tailored to rail projects
- Drive innovation in cost management and improve services
- Build relationships with senior clients and stakeholders to support satisfaction and business opportunities
- Support major rail programmes including HS2 and other nationally significant infrastructure projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Chartered status or working towards a recognised professional qualification
- Extensive experience delivering cost and commercial management services on major rail or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of the full project lifecycle, from business case through to project completion
- Experience working within complex stakeholder environments, ideally including HS2 and other major rail programmes
- Proven leadership, communication and client management skills
- CSCS card holder or able to obtain one
