About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engineer, detail design, study, and deliver physical electrical substation projects for transmission and distribution substations at 4kV to 500kV
- Independently perform engineering and detail design drawings, studies, and analyses
- Prepare bidding documents, specifications, bills of materials, shop drawing reviews, procurement documents, and construction documents
- Lead and participate in project estimates, engineering estimates, proposals, client engagement, and business development activities
- Coordinate with civil, structural, high-voltage protection and control, telecommunications, and geotechnical engineers
- Develop complete Issue for Construction design packages
- Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, and Technical Lead
- Support power delivery client goals and regional business growth
- Mentor junior team members
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on the work of electrical engineers, designers, and technicians
- Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors
- Coordinate the power delivery renewable energy team and collaborate with wind, solar, and green hydrogen teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within substation projects from 4kV up to 500kV
- Ability to execute and deliver a complete substation package under minimal supervision
- Experience with substation physical layouts, sections and elevations, bus configurations, cable and conduit sizing, grounding, control building, lighting and lightning, and HV/EHV substation engineering, design, and studies
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SKM/ETAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, and other engineering software
- Design experience adhering to the National Electrical Code, National Electric Safety Code, IEEE codes and standards, and county, city, and state codes, ordinances, and standards
- Strong team player mindset and excellent communication skills
- PE license preferred
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to client sites and customer meetings, within North America and potentially internationally
