About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply technical engineering techniques and methods using international and local structural design codes
- Participate in safe design processes using hazard identification and risk assessment
- Prepare drawing markups and design-related documents
- Oversee detailed project design and calculations
- Supervise design and drawing markup processes
- Ensure design resources work effectively and efficiently
- Conduct internal reviews and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations
- Liaise with other project disciplines to coordinate requirements
- Prepare, register and maintain accurate design documentation and reports
- Liaise with Function Leaders and the Design Manager regarding project developments and changes
- Deliver technically complete design documentation, summary reports and technical reports
- Record man-hour charges accurately in weekly timesheets
- Identify project scope risks and potential deviations
- Ensure compliance with scope, schedule and cost controls
- Develop the skills and knowledge of Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineers
- Mentor and train assigned engineers
- Lead a project team and guide team members
- Liaise with BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators
- Collaborate with Arcadis GECs, regional offices, clients and other design disciplines
- Plan assigned work and allocate resources for timely delivery
- Monitor junior team-member performance and resolve issues
- Manage own time effectively
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Registered Civil Engineer
- 8 to 10 years minimum relevant post-graduate experience
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide solutions to technical problems
- Excellent mathematical skills applied in engineering calculations
- Ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegating skills
- Organizational skills and proactive approach in project management
- Highly proficient in international design standards including US, Canada, UK&I, European and Australian standards
- Highly proficient in structural engineering design fundamentals
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and BIM environment
- Highly proficient in structural engineering software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RISA, Robot, Tekla Structures, or SCIA
- Ability to contribute to digital initiatives and process automation
- Excellent organisational skills and proactive task-management approach
- Continued personal and technical development through regular CPD training
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure metro projects or industrial steelwork projects is an advantage
- Working towards charterships with international institutes in the UK, US, Canada or Australia is an advantage
- Programming knowledge using C++, Python or Dynamo is an advantage
- A master's degree is an advantage
