About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and own preliminary and detailed traffic/intersection design drawings, cost estimates, specifications, proposals, and technical reports
  • Manage roadway illumination, traffic operations, and traffic signal projects
  • Coordinate with utility companies, municipalities, and roadway agencies on traffic signal, roadway lighting, and traffic operations designs
  • Prepare layouts, equipment details, and photometric analyses using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar software
  • Lead wiring diagrams, power calculations, and electrical engineering designs compliant with applicable codes, standards, and ESA requirements
  • Provide utility coordination, technical reporting and advisory, tender documentation, and field support
  • Support commissioning, traffic signal turn-on, and site inspections
  • Review and validate engineering deliverables as Authoring Engineer
  • Ensure drawings, specifications, analyses, cost estimates, engineering-stamped drawings, and final reports meet QA/QC requirements and are completed accurately and on schedule

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in traffic signal/intersection design and traffic operations
  • Experience as the Engineer of Record and/or Authoring Engineer on multiple major transportation projects in Ontario
  • Must possess, or be eligible to obtain, a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation or similar applications
  • More than 5 years of technical leadership and staff development experience
  • Client-facing experience
  • Experience directly supervising up to five Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and/or designers
  • At least 4 years of Project Manager experience, including direct client interaction on technical matters and regulatory and standards compliance
  • Proficient in AGi32 and various traffic operations software applications
  • Knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (Books 5, 7, 12, and 15), the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), MUTCDC, RP-8, TAC technical manuals, and relevant industry manuals/standards
  • Experience with O. Reg. 22/04 certification and coordinating with utility authorities
  • Experience performing site inspections, construction supervision, and contract administration
  • Experience working on MTO roadway lighting projects and MTO traffic signal timing projects
