About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and deliver backend features in Python for large-scale enterprise SaaS
  • Contribute to technical excellence through testing, CI/CD, and secure design
  • Provide technical guidance and architectural input across backend initiatives
  • Design data models and pipelines for high-volume sensor data streams and time-series events
  • Handle late-arriving data, retention windows, and downstream reclassification
  • Own a synchronization and reconciliation engine for distributed edge clients and cloud systems
  • Implement incremental updates, retroactive resynchronization, and atomic merging of concurrent edits
  • Build integrations with customer enterprise systems and maintain consistency under partial failures and ambiguous record matching
  • Design for concurrency, interval-based data, transactional guarantees, and consistency across async workers, polling clients, and human edits
  • Build configurable, formula-driven systems with safe customer-specific extension points
  • Build fast, reliable APIs for latency-sensitive operational user interfaces
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and data science teams
  • Manage and optimize data pipelines feeding the analytics platform

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • Python and Django required
  • Experience with large, complex backend SaaS applications
  • Strong skills in modelling complex data systems and delivering scalable solutions
  • Hands-on experience supporting production code and iterating with customer feedback
  • Contractors must hold or obtain the legal right to provide services as an independent contractor in their jurisdiction
  • Contractors must maintain registrations, licences, or business entities required by applicable law
  • Contractors are responsible for applicable professional indemnity, public liability, or other insurance as required in their jurisdiction
  • Resumes must be submitted in English
  • Celery, RabbitMQ, TimescaleDB/Athena, and manufacturing/industrial technology background are a plus
