About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and run products owned by the team, covering banking, payments, administration and operational tooling
- Lead and directly manage a cross-functional team
- Partner with a Product Manager as part of the Product Engineering Duo
- Own team delivery, including quality, stability, timelines and dependencies
- Own technical excellence and architecture within the team's scope
- Drive continuous improvement of team performance measured by DORA
- Support the continuous growth and wellbeing of engineers
- Make architectural decisions affecting the team's domain and Tide's Platform
- Divide time between design, coding and coaching team members
- Provide advice and solutions for difficult technical problems
- Collaborate in domain-aligned, full-stack teams that own products end to end
- Contribute to shared standards through Communities of Practice
Requirements
What you’ll need- Extensive experience building server-side applications and detailed knowledge of Java
- Sound knowledge of a backend framework, such as Spring/Spring Boot
- Experience running microservices and implementing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience engineering scalable and reliable solutions in a cloud-native environment
- Mindset of delivering secure, well-tested and well-documented software
- Full ownership of code and technical solutions across their entire lifecycle, from development to production
- Experience integrating with various third-party providers and partners
- Sound knowledge and experience working with relational databases
- Ability to work effectively in an agile environment
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Experience applying continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices
- Technical hands-on leadership and involvement in day-to-day team work
- Experience leading teams
- Experience directly managing people
