About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver accredited training for plant Operations employees at Palo Verde
  • Deliver accredited training courses; at the Senior level, deliver accredited licensed and/or non-licensed training programs
  • Ensure training complies with applicable NRC regulations and aligns with INPO Accreditation Objectives and Criteria
  • Execute all phases of a Systematic Approach to Training
  • Identify and define training and job-scope needs through analysis processes
  • Design and develop learning and development curriculum
  • Integrate industry best practices, INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC circulars and bulletins, plant design and procedure changes, and new regulations
  • Use instructional technologies and strategies including virtual learning, vision, computer-based training, and dynamic learning activities
  • Deliver classroom training and implement learning events and programs
  • Develop and maintain training schedules, task lists, and program documents required for ACAD requirements
  • Prepare trainee examinations and conduct evaluations in classroom, on-the-job training, and simulator environments
  • Conduct coaching sessions and develop individualized training when needed
  • Evaluate training curriculum and programs against student and organizational needs
  • Supervise students and reinforce management standards in training settings
  • Perform self-assessments and observations of line activities
  • Partner with line management to manage and monitor training programs
  • Mentor new instructors in Systematic Approach to Training and ADDIE process development
  • Interface with INPO and NRC during plant evaluations, inspections, and accreditation activities
  • Perform specialized activities in Vision and SWMS databases
  • Develop and evaluate training performance indicators and corrective actions
  • Participate in the Curriculum Review Committee
  • Participate in root and apparent cause analyses to identify training causes or corrective actions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Operations Nuclear Training Instructor Ops: four (4) years of direct job-related technical nuclear plant Operations experience and/or Operations Training experience in a commercial, military, or test reactor environment
  • Operations Nuclear Training Instructor Ops Sr: must hold or have held a Senior Reactor Operator/Reactor Operator (SRO/RO) license or SRO certification
  • Operations Nuclear Training Instructor Ops Sr: four (4) years of experience in Operations and/or Operations Training positions in a commercial, military, or test reactor environment
  • Selected candidate will be required to obtain an SRO certification within six months
  • Experience with the Systematic Approach to Training preferred
  • Experience as a Naval Master Training Specialist preferred
  • Experience in Naval Nuclear Power Training preferred
  • Experience with an accredited training program preferred
  • Experience as a Navy Engineering Watch Supervisor (EWS) and/or Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) preferred
  • Must fulfill Emergency Response Organization (ERO) obligations when called upon
  • Must support refueling or short-notice outages when called upon
  • Applicants for all PVNGS openings must be a U.S. person under U.S. Export Control Laws
  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees)
