About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process appellate cases and court-related documents
  • Screen cases for compliance with court rules and statutes
  • Receive, process, and distribute case documents and information
  • Accurately enter and review case information in the court case management system
  • Review and access electronically filed documents using the electronic clerk review system
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers in person, by telephone, and in writing
  • Prepare legal documents
  • Create and maintain accurate court records
  • Maintain confidentiality of non-public information and documents
  • Analyze information contained in court documents
  • Engage in professional discussions with judges, judges’ staff, staff attorneys, attorneys, and the general public
  • Apply critical thinking to ensure information is correct and accurate
  • Maintain focus and attention while completing daily tasks
  • Support day-to-day operations of the Court under the direction of the Clerk of the Court and Deputy Clerk Supervisor
  • Optimize office workflow and assist with problem solving

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Ability to work from 8AM through 5PM Monday through Friday
  • Ability to process court-related documents and accurately enter case information into a computer court case management system
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions
  • Ability to carry out routine tasks with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to adapt to changes in responsibilities, duties, and procedures
  • Initiative and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Ability to work well in a busy, professional environment
  • Ability to use scanners, web-based applications, and MS Office Suite products
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, including electronic file organization and email communication
  • Ability to work in a computer-based data-entry environment
  • Ability to work independently and in group situations
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding pending court cases and business processes
  • Ability to be bonded to handle money
  • Preferred: familiarity with legal documents and/or processes and procedures
  • Preferred: customer service experience
  • Preferred: experience using a court case management system and/or electronic filing system
  • Preferred: ability to speak, read, and write Spanish
  • Preferred: college degree or coursework
