About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own Array’s customs and compliance governance process
- Stay current on customs rules, tariffs, government requirements, and trade regulations and translate them into business processes
- Develop product understanding and determine HS, HTS, and tariff classifications across jurisdictions
- Research classifications, rulings, and regulatory requirements
- Ensure commercial invoices and customs documentation meet government requirements
- Review clearance requests, customs entries, invoices, certificates of origin, packing lists, bills of lading, air waybills, and supporting documentation
- Coordinate customs audits and serve as a point of contact with customs authorities
- Monitor and audit internal customs processes and resolve discrepancies and compliance risks
- Prepare, coordinate, or support amended customs documentation
- Manage duty drawback claims and coordinate submissions with brokers and internal teams
- Validate broker invoicing, customs charges, duties, brokerage, import, and export invoices
- Partner with Shipping and Logistics, Finance, Operations, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to build processes
- Support accurate customs document generation through ERP and automated systems
- Expand customs capability from Canada-U.S. trade to China, Mexico, Europe, and other international markets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in customs compliance, customs brokerage, import/export operations, or a closely related global trade function
- Understanding of customs rules, policies, documentation, audit requirements, and clearance processes
- Experience with U.S. customs and imports into the U.S. particularly valuable
- Completed relevant customs training
- Customs designation or certification ideally held
- Experience researching, determining, and applying HS, HTS, and tariff classifications
- Understanding of classification, origin, valuation, duties, tariffs, and supporting documentation
- Ability to review shipment and customs data for inconsistencies, missing information, and compliance risks
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Comfort working with ERP and automated systems
- Understanding of ERP information flows and customs documentation generation
- Exposure to the U.S. Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) is an asset
- Ability to communicate professionally with customs brokers, government agencies, Finance, Shipping, Logistics, and Operations
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, research answers, and make informed recommendations
