About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the field-based external-facing medical representation of Medical Affairs
  • Create awareness of Ascendis Pharma in the endocrinology community and communicate the potential of TransCon technology
  • Maintain medical expertise supporting the portfolio/pipeline and relevant disease states
  • Provide medical/scientific presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Identify KOLs and key organizations within the geography
  • Identify scientific needs of healthcare providers, researchers, and patient advocates
  • Develop and maintain a KOL engagement plan
  • Capture and communicate external insights about disease states, portfolio, pipeline, and competitors
  • Build relationships with Market Access, Marketing, Sales, and other internal colleagues
  • Collaborate with MOSLs to support regional deliverables
  • Participate in Field Medical Team strategic goals and objectives
  • Provide scientific support at medical congresses and medical affairs booths
  • Provide internal onboarding and ongoing medical training
  • Engage external researchers regarding investigator-initiated trials
  • Support clinical trial operations, investigators, sites, and patient-finding activities
  • Document relevant activities in the CRM platform
  • Maintain compliance with department and corporate policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD/PhD/PharmD or equivalent
  • Minimum 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a medical science liaison required
  • Pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology or rare disease experience preferred
  • Must be outgoing and appreciate the opportunity to interact with healthcare providers and researchers
  • Must have an incredible passion for patients
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with a high capability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical information in virtual and live settings is required
  • Collaborates with a wide range of people to achieve results
  • Ability to work autonomously to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule
  • Ability to make decisions which have a significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services
  • Ability to create materials such as reports and presentations and to present/speak to both internal and external groups
  • Must live near major airport hub within geography
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence; must possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record
  • Estimated travel ~50-75%
