About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical support related to electromagnetic spectrum and telecommunications systems analysis, including terrestrial and space systems supporting NASA operations
- Partner with the NASA Spectrum Analysis Center to provide technical expertise and analysis for domestic and international engineering studies
- Support collaboration and participation with other Agency spectrum organizations to meet requirements and mission needs for spectrum allocations, assignments, and coordination in national spectrum management organizations
- Support NASA Spectrum Office activities with domestic spectrum management tasks and ancillary meetings
- Support preparation and advocacy of technical contributions to appropriate IRAC and IRAC subcommittee meetings
- Support the integrity of NASA spectrum allocations and missions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in an engineering field, such as electrical engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 12–15 years or more of relevant work experience is required
- Knowledge and expertise with the NTIA and the Interdepartmental Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC), including IRAC subcommittees and ad hoc groups
- Knowledge of U.S. frequency licensing processes, procedures, and automation systems for federal government systems through NTIA and non-federal systems through the FCC
- Knowledge of the WRC and policies and procedures within the WRC Study Cycle through the ITU-R, as well as ITU governance and structure
- Spectrum management experience and knowledge of NASA spectrum usage sufficient to act autonomously when liaising for the Agency at domestic and international spectrum management forums
- Presentation and representation skills sufficient to advocate for the Agency in domestic and international spectrum management forums
- Must be a U.S. Citizen to be able to obtain a government-issued Secret clearance
- Ability to travel, if necessary
- Prior experience supporting spectrum management and engineering activities of federal agencies is preferred/desired
