About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, balance sheet schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Manage assigned general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve exceptions
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including financial analysis and closing entries
  • Provide accounting guidance, research results, code invoices, and resolve general ledger questions
  • Prepare and review financial information and supporting schedules for SEC filings, management reports, investor materials, and regulatory reporting
  • Coordinate with internal, external, and regulatory auditors by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries
  • Research GAAP, FASB, SEC, and banking regulations
  • Assist with implementing new accounting standards and reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, processes, procedures, and internal financial controls
  • Comply with applicable enterprise policies, laws, regulations, and Bank Secrecy Act requirements
  • Report suspicious activity to Financial Intelligence
  • Report customer complaints and procedure violations to management or HR
  • Report ethical concerns through Associated Bank’s anonymous Ethics Hotline

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting and/or finance experience in a team environment
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Preferred: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification by start date
  • Preferred: CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification by start date
  • Thorough background check for all new hires
  • Compliance with applicable laws, regulations, enterprise policies, and procedures
  • Responsibility for reporting suspicious activity, customer complaints, procedure violations, and ethical concerns
