About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work under general supervision from Communications, with additional supervision and delegated duties from the Communication Supervisor
- Write copy for campaigns, press releases, video scripts, radio ads, flyers, brochures, articles, newsletters, annual reports, external client projects, and other publications
- Read, proof, and edit written communications and pre-press projects to detect errors and style discrepancies
- Record and track measurable outcomes of blog and email marketing efforts
- Report information provided by ASI departments and the campus community
- Market services, programs, and events through informative and lifestyle stories for print and digital media
- Ensure changes and revisions are properly annotated and typeset material is correct
- Perform fact-checking duties
- Follow and help maintain the ASI Writing Style Guide
- Formulate and write articles covering marketing events
- Contribute story ideas and conduct interviews
- Assist in compiling local media coverage reports and media clips
- Assist with presentations about communication and public relations efforts
- Assist in developing and administering campaign strategy
- Research public relations opportunities, including campus collaborations, community partnerships, and influencer work
- Provide administrative support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 3 months of customer service experience required
- Minimum 3 months of copy-editing and copy-writing experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
- Desire to learn about marketing, advertising, and corporate communications
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain professional work conduct
- Ability to make independent decisions and recommendations
- Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check, including a criminal records check
- Must be a Cal Poly Pomona student eligible and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be currently enrolled in the required minimum units
- Minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and good academic standing required
- Must not be enrolled only in Extended University
- Must sign an Acknowledgment of Mandated Reporter Status and Legal Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 45 pounds
