About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead in-person structured group activities and fitness classes at the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex
- Offer safe, effective, and fun exercise formats for varying fitness levels and experience
- Arrive on time and ensure classes begin and end as scheduled
- Clean and organize the studio and equipment after each class
- Check in participants for instructional clinics and fee-based programs
- Enforce fitness studio and BRIC policies
- Report accurate class participation numbers
- Assist with special events as assigned
- Maintain knowledge of ASI and Campus Recreation programs and services
- Communicate with the Group Fitness Supervisor and Fitness Manager
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and workshops
- Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, and applicable specialized certifications
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 months customer service experience
- Minimum of 1 year of dance instruction experience
- Ability to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student population and campus community
- ACE Group Fitness Certification preferred
- Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check, including a criminal records check
- Must be a Cal Poly Pomona student eligible and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6.0 units; graduate students in at least 4.0 units
- International undergraduate student employees must be enrolled in at least 12.0 units; international graduate student employees in at least 6.0 units at the end of the add-drop period
- Minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and good academic standing
- Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 45 pounds
- Must sign an Acknowledgment of Mandated Reporter Status and Legal Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect
