About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead in-person structured group activities and fitness classes at the BRIC for varying fitness levels and experience
- Arrive on time and ensure classes begin and end on schedule
- Clean and organize the studio and equipment after each class
- Ensure proper participant check-in for instructional clinics and fee-based programs
- Enforce fitness studio and BRIC policies
- Report accurate class participation numbers
- Assist with special events as assigned
- Maintain current knowledge of ASI and Campus Recreation programs and services
- Maintain open communication with the Group Fitness Supervisor and Fitness Manager
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and workshops
- Maintain relevant certifications, including CPR/AED, First Aid, and specialized certifications where applicable
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 months of customer service experience
- Minimum of 3 months of yoga instruction experience
- Yoga Alliance International, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification required at time of hire
- Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student population and campus community
- Lay Responder CPR/AED/FA within 30 days of hire (provided by ASI)
- Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check, including a criminal records check
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 45 pounds
- Each ASI employee must sign an Acknowledgment of Mandated Reporter Status and Legal Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect under CANRA and CSU Executive Order 1083
- Cal Poly Pomona is a smoke and tobacco-free campus
