About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead in-person structured group activities and fitness classes at the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex
  • Offer safe, effective, and fun exercise formats for varying fitness levels and experience
  • Arrive on time and ensure classes begin and end as scheduled
  • Clean and organize the studio and equipment after each class
  • Ensure proper participant check-in for instructional clinics and fee-based programs
  • Enforce fitness studio and BRIC policies
  • Report accurate class participation numbers
  • Assist with assigned special events
  • Maintain knowledge of ASI and Campus Recreation programs and services
  • Maintain open communication with the Group Fitness Supervisor and Fitness Manager
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and workshops
  • Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, and applicable specialized certifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 3 months of customer service experience
  • Minimum of 3 months of Zumba instruction experience
  • Zumba Instructor License (Basic 1) required at time of hire
  • Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student population and campus community
  • Lay Responder CPR/AED/FA within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check, including a criminal records check
  • Eligible to work and have the legal right to work in the United States
  • Cal Poly Pomona student enrollment requirements: minimum 6.0 undergraduate units or 4.0 graduate units; international students minimum 12.0 undergraduate units or 6.0 graduate units at the end of the add-drop period
  • Minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and good academic standing
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 45 pounds
  • Must sign an Acknowledgment of Mandated Reporter Status and Legal Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire
