About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides direct support to projects related to child, adolescent, and school health
  • Provides technical assistance to multi-sector jurisdictional teams on evidence-based and evidence-informed practices
  • Supports the LEAHP+ Community of Practice and projects involving child and adolescent health and cross-cutting issues
  • Supports the Director, Family and Child Health, with coordinated presence and follow-up on federally funded projects
  • Assists in developing reports, issue briefs, blogs, podcasts, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and webinars
  • Assists in designing and developing virtual and in-person convenings
  • Conducts, analyzes, and summarizes web-based research and original data collection with states and territories
  • Collaborates across ASTHO on maternal and child health issues
  • Responds to assistance and information requests from members, affiliates, and national organizations
  • Participates in evaluating project activities, outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Establishes and manages strategic relationships with national partners
  • Assists in developing project proposals and concept papers
  • Represents ASTHO on national advisory committees and at meetings and conferences
  • Identifies internal and external collaboration opportunities through meetings, workgroups, and committees

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MPH or related degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of prior related experience
  • Knowledge of state or state and local public health, maternal and child health (specifically child and adolescent health) desirable
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of colleagues, funders and state and federal officials
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, manage multiple projects and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with public and internal contacts
  • Knowledge of public health systems change at local, state, or federal levels desirable
  • Ability to develop project outcome measures, track progress and evaluate outcomes
  • Ability to effectively translate and disseminate information to various groups and audiences
  • Ability to work with large networks and to represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences on public health-related issues
  • Ability and willingness to travel
