About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Make high-quality, data-driven and experience-driven decisions about the current and next generation of the production platform, and deliver the results
Own and build testing, build, and deployment processes in a high-scale PaaS environment
Collaborate across the company on production-system design, standards, technology choices, and product integration
Deliver predictable, safe, and reliable changes to production systems
Help shape collaboration practices within the Platform Engineering team
Build out the company’s Platform/Reliability practice on a small but growing team
Report directly to the VP of Reliability
Participate directly in decisions about priorities and execution
Participate in incident management and determine sensible platform practices
Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes
Participate in periodic on-call rotations for owned services

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong experience in Non-Abstract Systems design and implementation
Strong proficiency in Python and Golang
In-depth experience with Kubernetes (CKA or equivalent or greater)
Experience with observability principles and technologies, including SLI/SLO definition and tracking
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with a globally distributed team in delivery
Passion for reliability and operational excellence
Ability to estimate scope of work accurately and coordinate with stakeholders to address risks
Experience with software development best practices, including code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging
Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues, with a focus on ownership and accountability
Experience working on a SaaS/PaaS product across multiple cloud providers is a bonus
Experience with CircleCI, Chronosphere (Prometheus), Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, and GitHub Actions is a bonus
Experience with AWS, GCP, and particularly Azure is a bonus
Experience participating in an on-call rotation is a bonus
Experience with Apache Airflow is a bonus
