About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead creation and revision of transmission line design standards, template drawings, specifications, guides, and technical aids
- Gather input, build consensus, and communicate standards updates
- Provide timely support to engineering, construction, and maintenance teams
- Support problem solving and convert findings into actionable recommendations
- Evaluate vendors and factory qualifications
- Partner with Asset Management and Supply Chain
- Support pilots introducing new technologies and delivering long-term value
- Identify process enhancements across engineering, procurement, and construction
- Guide standards, performance, condition assessment, risk management, and lifecycle strategies for assigned assets
- Support safe, cost-effective, and reliable transmission assets for served communities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
- Wisconsin and/or Michigan PE preferred, but not required
- 5+ years of experience in transmission line engineering, design, standards development, asset management, or related utility engineering functions
- Foundational knowledge in one or more areas of transmission line engineering, including foundations, transmission line structures, conductor systems, insulators, line hardware, grounding, clearances, or constructability and maintainability
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards and utility practices, including NESC, IEEE, NERC, ASCE, and RUS guidance
- Experience collaborating with engineering consultants, contractors, equipment vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Clear, structured communication and collaborative teamwork
- Analytical, decisive, field-aware approach and ability to follow through on commitments
- Ability to keep stakeholders informed
