About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare field inventories, including protocols, equipment, and coordination
- Participate in field surveys and sampling activities
- Consistently apply standardized methodologies for data collection
- Prepare technical reports and sections of environmental impact studies related to vegetation and wetlands
- Describe baseline conditions, assess impacts, and develop mitigation measures and compensation projects
- Support permitting processes and liaise with regulatory agencies
- Prepare and implement field campaigns and sampling strategies
- Participate in consultations with stakeholders and regulatory authorities
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, including under challenging conditions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting wetland and vegetation surveys
- In-depth knowledge of the Guide for the Identification and Delimitation of Wetlands in Southern Québec (Lachance et al., 2021)
- Experience with provincial and federal environmental regulations
- In-depth knowledge of wetland classification systems and plant ecology
- Leadership and organizational skills
- Familiarity with GPS units, data loggers, and relevant software
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote areas
- Ability to work extended hours and perform repetitive tasks in remote areas
- Availability for occasional field travel throughout Québec
