About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare technical documents including engineering drawings, change paper markups, calculations, design and analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bills of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, and commissioning specifications
- Perform engineering work according to AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy procedures, QA programs, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare scopes of work, bid proposal inputs, requisitions, and Engineering Quotation Requests for equipment and materials procurement
- Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters
- Assist field construction and execution activities, including field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, and closeout
- Perform field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare walkdown reports
- Support conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases for CANDU and other nuclear electrical systems and modifications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
- 5–7 years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design in the nuclear industry
- Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems
- Experience preparing Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams and schedules, and calculating power demand/electrical load lists
- Experience with transformer sizing, cable sizing, and circuit breaker sizing calculations
- Experience modelling electrical power systems and using analysis functions in ETAP or similar software is an asset
- Site experience in construction or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset
- Good working knowledge of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I, and the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
- Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems
- Knowledge of OPG and/or BP Engineering Change Control (ECC) process, standards and procedures is an asset
- Familiarity with specifying and procurement support for transformers, MCCs, low voltage distribution load centers, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters, diesel generators, and power, control, and instrumentation cables
