About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, lay out, install, and maintain piping systems and associated supports
  • Support design and analysis of mechanical components, systems, and piping designs for nuclear and commercial projects
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models for piping routes, equipment placement, and plant setup
  • Perform engineering calculations using traditional methods, design codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Specify piping materials, fittings, valves, and support systems
  • Perform piping stress analysis using PipeStress, AutoPipe, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, ANSYS, or similar software
  • Prepare technical specifications, requisitions, and vendor recommendations for piping components
  • Review technical documents, drawings, calculations, design and analysis reports, specifications, data sheets, and bills of materials
  • Assist with engineering analysis, activities, and programs to identify and resolve routine equipment and system problems
  • Work in multidisciplinary project teams and ensure design integration across disciplines
  • Mentor junior colleagues and conduct quality reviews when needed
  • Work to assigned schedules, ensure accuracy and completeness, and initiate corrective measures for delays
  • Receive guidance from senior engineers and complete assigned duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering or related technical or Engineering Field
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in nuclear industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Knowledge of industry codes and regulations
  • Able to complete complex technical work with limited supervision
  • Higher-level knowledge and application of fundamental principles and concepts related to piping and mechanical design
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section III and ANSI B31.1 codes and applicable standards or regulatory guides preferred
  • Design engineering experience in nuclear class 1, 2, 3 and 6 piping systems, valves, pumps, and Nuclear Power Plants preferable
  • Site experience in construction or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset
