About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver pre- and post-contract MEP cost management services across a diverse project portfolio
  • Prepare cost estimates, feasibility studies, cost plans, and budgets
  • Monitor project costs and implement cost control measures
  • Lead contract administration activities, including tender preparation, evaluation, and variation management
  • Provide cost monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to project stakeholders
  • Advise clients on MEP cost drivers, project costs, value engineering opportunities, and procurement strategies
  • Support business development initiatives and increase client engagement across services and sectors
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the Southampton M&E team
  • Provide technical guidance and specialist MEP cost advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BSc degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Working towards, or commitment to achieving, MRICS Chartership
  • Demonstrable experience delivering both pre- and post-contract MEP quantity surveying services
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and their impact on overall construction costs
  • Experience across multiple sectors such as infrastructure, commercial, residential, healthcare, aviation, or education
  • Sound understanding of procurement strategies and contract administration
  • Ability to advise clients on project costs, value engineering, and commercial risks
  • Experience working directly with clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under changing deadlines
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Security clearance may be required
  • If clearance is required, candidates may need to provide proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer
