About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in tracking project budgets and ensuring costs align with financial plans and forecasts
- Collect and maintain expenditure data and accurately record financial transactions
- Build knowledge of VAT and UK tax regulations
- Assist with regular financial project reports, including cost summaries, variance reports, and forecasts
- Maintain organized financial document records for audits and project reviews
- Help create and update cost control documentation, including change orders, purchase orders, and contracts
- Collaborate with senior cost controllers and project managers on accurate and timely cost reporting
- Communicate cost-related updates and data to stakeholders
- Work with procurement, engineering, and operational teams to gather cost data and align with project goals
- Analyse data and support resolution of cost discrepancies or financial issues
- Maintain accuracy in data entry, report preparation, and budget tracking
- Update cost plans as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for basic financial analysis, including formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to collaborate with senior cost controllers, project managers, procurement, engineering, and operational teams
- Ability to communicate cost-related updates and data to stakeholders clearly
- Analytical mindset and ability to support problem-solving related to cost discrepancies or financial issues
- Accuracy in data entry, report preparation, and budget tracking
- Adaptability to changes and updating cost plans
- A degree in a relevant field such as finance, accounting, project management, or engineering, or working towards professional certifications
- Some previous experience in finance, project support, or similar roles is beneficial
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of financial software and tools for cost tracking and reporting, such as Excel or Oracle
- This role may require security clearance
- Security clearance may require proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer
