About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise and assist clients and in-house teams with responsibilities under the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended) and Building Safety Act 2022
- Deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer function for clients
- Work with designers to review building regulations compliance in designs
- Help develop practical solutions aligned with legislation and best practice
- Undertake Building Safety Consultancy duties in line with agreed service deliverables
- Conduct building regulation compliance audits and site inspections
- Review building regulation submission packages
- Undertake gap evaluation reviews and plan appraisals to identify missing information required for building regulation approval
- Potentially deliver building regulation compliance training internally and externally
- Learn and apply quality assurance principles
- Keep up to date with relevant legislative and best-practice changes
- Work across a varied portfolio of projects and provide solution-focused outcomes for high-profile clients
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experienced Building Safety/Building Control/compliance professional
- Strong background interpreting and applying the Building Regulations and associated secondary legislation
- Good understanding of the technical and functional requirements of the Building Regulations 2010
- Sound technical Building Regulations knowledge
- Understanding of design and construction
- Excellent stakeholder-facing and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Proactive attitude and willingness to seek guidance from senior colleagues
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software packages
- Ability to work concurrently on a portfolio of projects
- Relevant professional chartership/accreditation with CABE, CIOB or RICS
- Experience in a similar Building Safety, building regulations compliance or design compliance role
- Demonstrable understanding of construction and design
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Class 2/3 Registered Building Inspector is not essential, but candidates must demonstrate competence working on a range of building types and uses
- Experience of PAS45001 and other integrated management systems
- May require relevant security clearance and potentially proof of 5 years or longer UK residency
