About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct thorough facility condition assessments, including interior and exterior inspections of client buildings
  • Work under direct supervision in accordance with instructions and standard practices
  • Document findings through photographs, sketches, notes, and tablet-based photographs of mechanical or electrical equipment and subcomponents
  • Review and interpret architectural and engineering blueprints to understand building layouts, systems, and potential issues
  • Draft preliminary reports based on assessment findings and identify necessary repairs, maintenance, or upgrades
  • Compile data into structured formats for detailed condition assessment reports
  • Apply knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural building systems to assess condition and functionality
  • Identify and report operational status and potential defects in building systems
  • Participate in fieldwork involving ladders, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions while following safety protocols
  • Inspect large complexes and walk up to 5 miles per day
  • Interact with clients to clarify requirements or provide preliminary assessment feedback
  • Represent the company professionally at client sites
  • Learn about new building technologies, materials, and assessment methodologies
  • Attend training sessions or workshops
  • Assist senior assessors with project timelines and coordinate with team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering or related field
  • Required 5-8 years of experience
  • Required knowledge of building systems, including Architectural, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Comfort using a computer
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to report to the office 2-3 days per week
  • Required to travel 25% domestically each month
  • Ability to meet hard deadlines
  • Strong process and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and determine the best course of action
  • Preferred experience with AutoCAD or similar software
  • Preferred experience and/or education in Construction Management, Facilities Management, or Building Science
  • Ability to pass a drug screen test and background check upon acceptance of an offer
  • This position is not available for individuals living or working in New York City
