About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and commercial support to the Water Market
  • Partner with operational leaders, project directors, and senior stakeholders
  • Advise Market Directors, Client Directors, Framework Leads, and Operational Managers
  • Provide financial analysis and challenge to support strategic and operational decision-making
  • Support annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods
  • Provide financial oversight across projects and frameworks
  • Support project managers with financial management
  • Conduct project reviews and identify, quantify, and mitigate financial risks
  • Assist with bid reviews, pricing submissions, and commercial proposals
  • Support financial management of joint ventures, alliances, and framework arrangements
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, JV agreements, and governance requirements
  • Support partner reporting and stakeholder enquiries
  • Maintain financial controls within project and JV environments
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate policies, and internal controls
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Improve financial processes, systems, and reporting capability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent professional qualification
  • Significant post-qualification experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance, or Project Finance role
  • Experience supporting complex project-based businesses within infrastructure, construction, engineering, utilities, or professional services sectors
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, forecasting, and revenue recognition
  • Experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial modelling capability
  • Advanced Excel capability
  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP would be beneficial
  • Experience of joint venture accounting and governance would be beneficial
  • May require relevant security clearance
  • May require proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer if security clearance is necessary
