About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and execute civil and structural design for power generation facilities, including concrete and structural steel support structures, foundations, dynamic analysis, site development, control buildings, and ancillary structures
- Deliver designs in compliance with applicable codes, standards, AtkinsRéalis policies, safety, environmental, QA/QC, and quality standards
- Coordinate design activities to support project schedules and successful delivery
- Support site visits, project estimating, and project meetings
- Produce accurate, high-quality designs aligned with industry standards and project specifications
- Review internal and external designs for code compliance, constructability, and best practices
- Prepare project specifications for material and equipment procurement and installation
- Address site queries, participate in construction meetings, and conduct site inspections as needed
- Maintain design and construction documentation, including as-built records and closeout packages
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain commitments to project deliverables
- Build relationships with Procurement, Drafting, Project Management, clients, contractors, and suppliers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on power generation, preferably thermal
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, and OSHA codes and standards
- Proficiency with RISA, STAAD, SAP2000, or similar structural analysis and design tools
- Experience with dynamic analysis and seismic response preferred
- Familiarity with SmartPlant 3D, Revit, Tekla, and AutoCAD preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while taking ownership of deliverables
