About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage design, construction, and warranty phases of multi-use trail, park, and streetscape projects
- Review construction documents, technical specifications, bid documents, cost estimates, and design standards
- Manage engineering teams during design and permitting and oversee construction activities on site
- Prepare and present monthly design and construction progress reports
- Administer contracts, including invoices, design changes, change orders, value engineering proposals, and contractor correspondence
- Manage project schedules and budgets, including cost tracking, billing, change management, cash flows, and schedule development
- Coordinate utility relocation needs with utility asset owners
- Coordinate with ABI internal departments and external jurisdictions
- Serve as a resource for staff, consultants, the public, and City departments on community-based project design
- Lead and support community stakeholder conversations and explain technical issues accessibly
- Support presentation materials for community meetings
- Coordinate procurement and contracting of design teams and general contractors
- Prepare procurement documents and determine technical selection criteria
- Recommend engineering consultants and contractors while supporting DBE participation goals
- Manage environmental remediation work and project sustainability goals
- Review adjacent public and private development plans for drainage, grading, and erosion control improvements
- Integrate equity and inclusion into project work
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship unavailable
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field
- Minimum 15+ years of design/project management experience
- Advanced knowledge of design and construction management principles and processes on behalf of an owner
- Ability in negotiation, contract administration, construction project management, cost management, procurement practices, cost accounting, and budgeting
- Proficiency with project management and office software, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office products
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, project management software such as Procore or similar, accounting cost management software, and scheduling software such as Primavera or MS Project
- Ability to prepare, read, and interpret engineering and architectural plans, technical specifications, drawings, and contract documents
- Ability to supervise consultant activities and coordinate with jurisdictions and utility companies
- Achieve LAP (Locally Administered Project) certification with GDOT within one year of employment
- Ability to define and resolve complex issues
- Effective presentation and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple activities, competing deadlines, budgets, and schedules with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively across organizations and with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and working styles
- Ability to communicate effectively with federal, state, and local agency officials
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, ethics, integrity, empathy, and commitment to equitable and inclusive access
- Preferred: project management experience on urban civil infrastructure projects such as trails, streetscapes, public spaces, or parks
- Preferred: experience with multidisciplinary design and construction projects in urban environments
- Preferred: master’s degree in Building Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field
- Desired familiarity with GIS/ARC Info, Google Earth, AutoCAD, and MicroStation
- Knowledge of SITES, GDOT processes and permitting, federally funded projects, and City of Atlanta permitting desirable
