About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the corporate firewall, data center switching and KVM virtualization layer across two redundant data center racks
- Serve as the senior Tier 3 escalation point for the full-time infrastructure engineer
- Complete the FortiGate HA migration from FG-201E to FG-121G, including config conversion, test plan, cutover and rollback plan
- Manage firewall policy changes, VPNs, security profiles, FortiOS upgrades and periodic rule reviews
- Manage the Cisco Nexus switching fabric in both racks, including vPC health, VLAN and port changes, NX-OS upgrades and config backups
- Act as Tier 3 escalation for network, firewall and KVM incidents
- Maintain KVM host standards for networking, storage, backups and capacity across Dell and Lenovo servers
- Keep network diagrams, IP plans and runbooks current
- Coordinate with telecom application specialists when network or firewall changes affect their services
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and a defined on-call rotation for critical outages
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 7 years in network and infrastructure engineering
- Hands-on production experience in Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco Nexus 9000/NX-OS, and KVM virtualization on Linux; course-only or lab-only exposure does not qualify
- 3+ years in production with FortiGate
- Experience with FortiGate HA clusters (FGCP active-passive), heartbeat links and session sync
- Experience with FortiGate hardware migration, config conversion and low-downtime cutover
- Experience with FortiOS upgrades and firmware path planning
- Experience with policies, NAT/VIPs, IPsec site-to-site VPN, SSL-VPN or ZTNA, VLAN interfaces and LACP
- Experience with security profiles (IPS, application control, web filtering) and log analysis
- 3+ years with Cisco Nexus 9000/NX-OS
- Experience with vPC design and troubleshooting, peer-link and keepalive
- Experience with top-of-rack and access-layer design, VLANs, trunks, LACP port-channels and Spanning Tree
- Experience with 10/25/100G optics, breakout cables and server uplink design
- Layer 3 experience with SVIs, HSRP/VRRP, static routing, OSPF or BGP
- Experience with NX-OS upgrades, config backup and change management
- 3+ years in production with KVM virtualization on Linux
- Experience with libvirt, virsh, virt-manager or Cockpit for creating, cloning and resizing VMs
- Linux host networking experience with bridges, bonding and VLAN tagging toward Nexus switches
- Experience with storage pools on local disk and SAN (iSCSI or FC), LVM and qcow2
- Experience with VM backups, snapshots, live migration and capacity planning
- Experience with Dell iDRAC and Lenovo XClarity/IMM
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- Clear documentation skills for network diagrams, runbooks and change records
- Nice-to-have: FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer
- Nice-to-have: IBM Power9 servers, HMC, VIOS or AIX basics
- Nice-to-have: Lenovo/IBM Storwize-class SAN storage and tape backup
- Nice-to-have: network automation with Ansible or Python
- Nice-to-have: monitoring with Zabbix, PRTG, LibreNMS or Grafana
- Nice-to-have: exposure to telecom/carrier networks (SIP, Diameter, SS7/SIGTRAN, GTP)
- Nice-to-have: Fortinet FCP Network Security/FCSS, CCNP Data Center or Enterprise, or RHCSA/RHCE
