About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive revenue and/or margin growth through product development, product enhancements, and value engineering
  • Design, prototype, document, and improve apple and cherry product lines
  • Manage engineering activities for assigned product lines
  • Sustain product-line value propositions with focus on customer satisfaction, performance, safety, compliance, and reliability
  • Execute Value Analysis activities to reduce costs and improve product function
  • Develop product portfolios based on voice of customer and voice of business
  • Set priorities and key activities with stakeholders to achieve annual targets
  • Collaborate with Sales to identify product portfolio gaps and develop solutions
  • Bridge Sales, product line team members, and Manufacturing
  • Identify target markets and assess competition
  • Coordinate product development with Sales, Operations, and other internal departments
  • Ensure engineering and design releases adhere to schedules
  • Facilitate critical design review meetings
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts
  • Manage development and enhancement projects through analysis, testing, validation, and production release
  • Work cross-functionally with customers, Sales, Service, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Create SolidWorks models and drawings
  • Research new materials and development methods
  • Maintain engineering records
  • Construct prototypes and perform physical testing
  • Ensure components and assemblies meet applicable industry and business standards
  • Develop designs using common components across product lines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role; industrial equipment industry desired
  • Proven ability designing products utilizing motors, gears, pneumatics, bearings, and pumps (required)
  • Experience designing sheet metal parts, weldments, and machined components
  • Experience working with third-party/external suppliers in product development
  • Direct experience collaborating with external and internal customers, including sales teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering discipline
  • Broad knowledge and skills in core Engineering functions at a generalist level
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software
  • Understanding and ability to design for manufacturability
  • Experience using DFMA and GD&T principles
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate goals and objectives and foster a team environment
