About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software and hardware infrastructure on Linux-based systems
- Develop solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers
- Work with Docker and Podman container technologies
- Instantiate and administer Red Hat virtual machines using KVM
- Automate tasks using Bash and Ansible
- Develop applications using Python
- Research and resolve software bugs
- Maintain source code in Git repositories
- Perform testbed demonstrations and proofs of concept for leadership
- Assist subject matter experts with software engineering change request requirements and software documentation
- Support the Navy customer and critical technical requirements for military operations
- Travel up to 10%
Requirements
What you’ll need- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance
- Ability to maintain a DoD IAT II certification
- Experience with Red Hat or similar Linux distributions
- Experience creating Linux Bash scripts
- Experience programming in Python
- Familiarity with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch and router technologies
- Strong documentation and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to multitask and balance multiple goals and priorities
- Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality
- BS degree in a relevant technical field or combination of education and experience
- CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
- Linux OS certification is preferred/impressive to have
- Experience with Navy systems is preferred/impressive to have
