About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Performs leak surveys and line patrolling on transmission and distribution systems using traditional and advanced leak detection equipment
  • Participates in regulatory audits with other work groups as needed
  • Performs code compliance leakage activities
  • Identifies deficiencies and creates work orders
  • Identifies mapping discrepancies and takes corrective action
  • Performs activities to assure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies
  • Completes and maintains accurate records and reports for Company and regulatory requirements
  • Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues through resolution
  • Safely operates and inspects assigned Company vehicles and equipment
  • Adheres to Atmos Energy values, strategies, policies, procedures, safety requirements, and Code of Conduct
  • Works as an individual contributor, team member, and/or leader of others
  • May enter customer premises and work outdoors in varied weather, terrain, noise, ladders, roofs, attics, under houses, and confined spaces
  • May require extensive and/or overnight travel
  • May report outside the regular work area

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent and three years' experience in natural gas survey and/or corrosion activities, service, construction and maintenance, and/or pipeline operations; or equivalent
  • Completes assigned classes, Operator Qualifications (OQ) and OJT specific to Compliance Survey Learning Path
  • Must obtain and maintain any other required OQs and classroom training or certifications
  • Valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards
  • Records management system experience preferred
  • Ability to utilize the Company's internet/intranet website and available resources for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks
  • Ability to communicate with internal/external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information
  • Ability to perform required physical activities, including bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting
  • Acute sense of sight and hearing (corrected or uncorrected) and strong sense of smell
  • Extensive daily walking
  • Ability to repetitively lift and forcefully push a 15-pound probe into the ground at a contact point of 52 inches
  • Ability to repetitively generate 142-foot pounds of force at a contact point of 55 inches
  • Ability to lift 53 pounds from the ground to 52 inches
  • Ability to generate 81-foot pounds of force at a contact point of 70 inches
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch
  • Ability to walk a distance of 500 feet
  • May require residence due to call-out response time
  • Pre- and post-employment screenings, including DOT/PHMSA drug testing and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks, are required
  • May be required to hold standby duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call-outs, and occasional extensive hours
  • Must complete all required safety training
