About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for each company and the group
- Present results to the CEO and investors and answer their questions
- Review the bookkeeper's work and own the month-end close and reconciliations
- Prepare each company for tax filing and keep payroll and sales tax on schedule
- Track cash, payables and receivables to identify upcoming needs early
- Build budgets and provide a finance perspective on spending and new initiatives
- Improve finance processes and controls
- Set up the books when a new company joins the group
- Work across three companies and any future companies, reporting to the CEO
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience as a finance manager, controller, senior accountant or similar, ideally at a small or growing company
- Experience preparing and presenting financial reports to owners, a CEO, investors or a board
- Budgeting or financial planning experience that informed real business decisions
- Experience getting a company's books ready for tax filing
- Month-end close and reconciliation experience sufficient to review a bookkeeper's work confidently
- CPA license is a bonus, not required
- Experience handling more than one company's books simultaneously is a bonus
- Experience using AI tools in finance work, such as reconciliations or report drafts, is a bonus
- Background in property management, real estate services or inspections is a bonus

Comp & perks- Hybrid work: at least one day a week in person in Davis, CA, with the rest of the week remote on US business hours
- Full-time schedule of around 40 hours a week
